Nowt wrong with the D , guess some don't like manual focusing , but I'm used to it , and happy with it too .

Nice test shots. The 1.8D was my first Nikon lens and is terrific insofar as being fast focusing, super light and renders really nice images. Keep shooting! :)

Would buying the g version be no different in focusing as I have no on board motor for auto focusing so I would still have to manually focus with the D52oo surely and cost me twice as much for little benefit.

The 50mm f1.8G version is an AF-S lens and will autofocus on your 5200.

I want to eventually get the Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.8 D and/or the Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.4 D lens! I just hope it doesn't take me as long to get it/them as it did for me to get the Nikkor AF 105mm micro f/2.8 D lens! Lol :D
