Re: Bird in Flight

That may be the very best shot I have ever seen of my favorite bird. I am going to stalk a pair this spring and can only hope for a shot half that good.

That is the only one even approaching keep status. Half a dozen were flying back and forth like mad, from tree to tree to reeds, but all in short bursts, so I couldn't get focus.

Re: Bird in Flight

Damn sight better than my first attempts
Thanks web. this was shot hand held as I forgot the plate for my tripod and I was too far away to get any decent shots of the ones sitting on the nest. It's enough to make one long for one of those new soggy 150-600 lenses. But i doubt I will ever do this often enough to justify such an expenditure. Maybe.

Re: Bird in Flight

at least yours is stopped dead in motion, mine looked like a fuzzy thing
Well Roy I cropped the hell out of this and I sure would not want to zoom this to 100 per cent because I am sure the focus is far from sharp. This kind of photography takes a lot of practice and I tip my hat to those who have appeared to master it. But I bet they have a lot of no gos to show for some of there attempts.
