Here is a link to the main thing I want to buy:

YONGNUO RF 603 N3 Flash Trigger for Nikon D7000 D5100 D5000 D3100 D90 D600 D5200 | eBay

Being Yongnuo and based on above I am pretty cnfidnet. Just checking the seller's feedback

Read the 85 negative feedbacks left in the last 6 months. I'd buy elsewhere personally.

eBay Feedback Profile for pangshionline2

Also, they ship worldwide, except to these locations, being you are in New Zealand, I'd validate before purchasing.
Why would a seller in Hong Kong not ship to China?

Excludes: Australia, Germany, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China

From that, why would a seller in HK not ship to HK? FFS! This is the sort of thing that makes me concerned about a seller. If it don't smell right, it ain't right. Simples.

I have noticed that recently the dial on the grip has not been functioning, it did work but has stopped. I need to look into it.

I have 2 of them. tried it on a D7000. killer. did tons of weddings since. and I crazy glued the focus area selector in place and also the shutter release dial lock. works great. watch the contacts under and see theyre clean.

Seller is in China and doesn't ship to China. Does there have to be something sinister about it? Just asking as there may be some valid reason.
However there are others selling this item so I am sure I will find a suitable vendor.

I just saw this on another photo site - maybe worth the info?

eBay is the only virtual store front YongNuo has. If you don't want to buy through eBay, you can e-mail him here: [email protected]

This is what you do:
-List everything you want to order from him and he will give you a total.
-Ask for a discount since you're buying multiple items.
-Once he gives you a total (shipping included), send the payment through PayPal using the same e-mail above.
-E-mail him again telling him you've sent payment.
-After he responds, you wait for a while. He takes 1-2 days to ship the items out and it can take 3 weeks to reach your doorstep depending how far you are from HK.

Can you buy direct from Yongnuo on Amazon and have them ship it to NZ?

It appears this is the official ebay store for Youngnuo? Try here: Canon Nikon Version, YN-560 II items in hkyongnuophotoequipment store on eBay!

Thanks for the link.

I think I will just put all this on hold. Been scared off now with all the negative comments and I don't think waiting 6 weeks and worrying about it is what I need right now. With my luck it will just be a hassle and get me wound up over $35.00. How crazy is that?

From memory the Amazon option is prohibitive due to additional shipping.

Lawrence, as a person who started with the 603, I highly recommend you get something else. take a look at the commlite G430

I have 4 of these and I also have 6- YN-622n.

you can find the G430 for $25 shipped. great build. can used as a remote to fire the camera. can be used with the H550 to sync up to 1/8000 if you need to.

just a suggestion from a pro who uses slaves every wedding. and for hundreds of shots.

Thanks @rocketman122 this whole exercise started off because I discovered that I can use my Sunpak GX14 with Triggers/receivers. now I am beginning to wonder if spending anything to get the Sunpak working (just because I have it) is even worth the bother.

dude, absolutely. you can very creative with off camera flash. its when you get it off the camera ,you can create beautiful lighting.im not sure the slaves will be compatible with the supak. not sure the yongnuo are either. it might not have the wake function. I didnt know what flash you were using but I really dont know. how strong are these sunpaks anyway? everyone should strive for off camera flash when they can. its much more pleasing. CLS/optic slave/radio slave..whatever works. straight on flash looks flat and doesnt give dimension to the subject.

It should work as it works on camera hot shoe. However it is 160 volts and camera is OK up to 250v (according to manual) but i don't want to take more than the original test shot on camera. Had I known there was even the slightest risk I probably wouldn't have fired the test shot either.

It is for the "much more pleasing" results that I want the off camera flash. But I am still very much at the beginning of this little journey.
What lights are you suing on the G430 set up?

when I started with slaves, I started with the 603. my 568 fell of because the mark 1 didnt have a locking wheel. got rid of those slaves, then found the G430. bought 4. they worked great. but wanted something to use outdoors and to work ttl. so got the 622n. I only use the 622n's now and the G430 are just standby/backup. but used them both with the same setup. I have a D3/622/SB700 and a D600/622/metz 58 af2 or yn-568. off camera I use the yn-560III and SB28 and Sb800. I usually use 3 off camera when I shoot family formals. dont use the on camera flash though. dance floor, I use 2-3 of the off camera flashes with my on camera together.

just think studio lighting. they always have their flashes off camera and usually aimed at 45º to the subject. start with 2 point one 45 and the other from the other side 45 also and light the short side of the face at 1 stop more the long side of the face and youll get nice dpeth and modeling of the face. gotta get some sleep buddy. any questions, post them will reply in the morning.

The Seller had them priced at a level that was high enough to lessen fears of the product being counterfeit -- pretty clever actually, so no, we didn't know.

Lawrence, I bought my flashes and triggers via this bloke ybesty items - Get great deals on SSD HDD U flash, Laptops items on eBay Stores! and had no problems. They arrived fast ( took a week from memory) and the seller was good enough to answer a question I had after they arrived, but thats no good to you in NZ :(

Like everyone else I have bought HEAPS of stuff from eBay. Some of it turned out to be useless (but that was the cheap stuff) but mostly it is OK. You can't go wrong with buying a lens cap for $1 as opposed to $20 for a Nikon original, and because they are so cheap I have spare lens caps, hot shoe covers, eyepieces, eyepiece covers. I use a strap that cost me $5 and is every bit as good as the original strap and a lot prettier :D

Being 100% sure that what you buy is genuine (if advertised as such) is always a problem, so if that worries you buy from Nikon. ;)

WARNING ABOUT eBAY

Be careful what you buy on eBay.

If you buy stuff on line, check out the seller carefully.

A friend has just spent £95, on a penis enlarger.

The add said complete with full safety instructions

They sent him a magnifying glass.

The only instructions said, "Do not use in direct sunlight."

Exactly! I bought so many stuff that would cost me tons of money had I bought nikon and the quality is the same. lens caps like the 52mm 58mm 77mm are the standard. I bought a 10 set of rear lens caps and body caps for $10. lens hoods that would cost $30+ dollars if I bought nikon and here theyre selling them for $4-8 and really no difference in quality. a perfect copy. round eyecups that cost $8, you can get for $3.5. and the quality doesnt fall short of the nikon. what strap do you use? at this time im using the An-6y and im happy but always interested in seeing other options. dont like those blackrapid slings. the idea is great, just dont like the idea of my camera getting scratched up by my belt and others kneeing it when im on the dance floor or at the chuppa when im doing the ceremony. and when I get on my knees to shoot, I have to hold it and put it on the floor.

@rocketman122 Isn't life a laugh?
I just checked that e-bay link for G430 and he doesn't ship to New Zealand.
Time to go take some photos I think

there are no shortage of seller selling the same products buddy. keep looking and youll find one
