Day 68 Photo

I found this little bird when I went for a walk early. He was a little skittish so it took a while for me to get the photo. Patience is a virtue!!

Looks like the western variety of the Dark Eyed Junco. The easterns we have are all dark grey, so when I saw them in CO I wanted to grab a photo and you're right, they're VERY skittish - I never managed to grab one. They migrate thru here during the cold seasons, so we call them "deck penguins" since we see them on the snow more than anything else.

MM reminded me I forgot to post my picture. So tired taking care of everything concerning my dad, but he is doing better. Thank you everyone for the thoughts.

Great color variation. Does look like the same kind.

For the curious, here's a link to the Eastern variety on my Flickr page (I won't post my photo in your thread). This one is female and has more brown in it than the male, which is a solid slate color. Our variety is common to all of the US and Canada. You folks in Utah will likely see 5 varieties over the course of the year, with the one above ("Oregon" variety) and the Slate during the winter, and a Pink-sided, White-winged and Grey-headed variety during the summer and migration periods. It's amazing how many more varieties of birds there are west of the Mississippi, and particularly west of the Great Plains.

All in due time my love. Like I said, it's a new skill to learn. Besides, the rest of your photography has improved so quickly I'm sure it won't take you long. Just practice.

Sports action photography is something I've yet to try in earnest. A lack of kids means that I'd be, "the creepy guy from down the block taking photos of girl's lacrosse", so I've chosen to avoid it. Too many other things to learn first.

Wow. Color me green with envy! We are getting snowfall here. About an inch so far. Makes yesterdays 69 degrees feel like a snub by mother nature....

Day 73 Photo.

I thought I would take a picture of my toes, since they are cuter than my husband. And I was stuck taking care of him after he made himself sick by not drinking enough water. He gave himself dehydration sickness. He is not a very smart man.

Day 74 Photo

My first moon shot I think I need some practice. Sorry it is not one of my best photo's but I am off to bed. I have to get up early to go take care of my dad.
