old photo, new processing

I doing some testing on a function in the site tonight I grabbed some old photos and uploaded them to my gallery. Someone commented on the photo and said they liked it. I checked and it was a very old photo that I had shot with my D3100 in JPEG and processed in ViewNX2. I went and found the original and reprocessed it. Tell me what you think,

Definitely an improvement -- the later looks like something seen, the former a bad product shot for a florist (no offense intended)

D3100, JPEG, no post skills using ViewNX2 for the first one.

Photoshop CS6, Nik collection still D3100 JPEG. And some improvement in post.

I Just wonder what I could do if I had shot it in raw

Big improvement, But watch it! The 3100 is super high tech for me!! One thing for sure. Which I'm just learning. That RAW is the way to go. I'm shooting RAW and jpeg to keep me secure until I know more of what I'm doing. The way you brought the old pic to life is awesome.

I think what this shows more than anything is that people need to work on their post processing skills.

I think I need to try again with the original file and only use ViewNX2 and see what it looks like.

OK here is is just processed with ViewNX2

I really did not know what I was doing in October 2012 when this photo was processed.

This looks better than it did back then but it is missing some of the small details of the PS edit from earlier.
