Welcome to Nikonites! I think you will love the choice of glass, I have those two lenses and they still blow me away, the IQ is amazing, now complete the trilogy and get the 14-24 and you are all set!

14 ??? That is wide, I'll need to look into that one, or consider a prime lens for ultra wide. I always made do with 24mm on a FF sensor for landscape, but you do sometimes wish you could go that bit wider....thanks for the recommendation.

Hey congrats, great choice and lens combinations, I just got the 70 - 200 and am enjoying it so far. I have a wedding in 2 weeks and it will be interesting, but with me being a hobbyist/amateur I am not expecting anything great lol.

You will be fine mate. I used to use the Canon 70-200 for candid portrait shots, and being a heavy lens, all I'd recommend is use a monopod where possible, unless you have massive biceps....

Haha not massive biceps, but I normall hand hold my 80-400 and even though this weighs approx 5kg with camera/battery grip & 70-200 I can still hold it in one hand easily. Will be interesting to see how I go shooting for a whole day but will be great. I am trying to steer away from the monopod route as I like to be pretty mobile.

Well, picked up the Body, Grip, 70-200mm this afternoon. The 24-70mm should be in Friday. I kind of got carried away and bought a new Manfrotto Tripod with Junior Geared Head........and a lovely slick operator it is too ! Just tested with some shots around the house and boy even the jpegs are 14mb !! You only get 200 images in raw from a 16gb flashcard....yikes....I better buy more !

Haha yes I have a few 32gb cards and a few fast 16gb CF cards, get the battery grip aswell as the adaptor for the D4 battery. Makes a difference.

So here is a quick snap taken about an hour ago with my 24-70mm that I picked up today...pity about the shadow, but given this is a tight crop, I'm super impressed how much you can crop !

OP welcome to Nikon, like you I was a Canon fan boy and never thought I would sell my canon gear to buy nikon, well when I tried my 5D III next to the D610 it was all over and I never looked back, sold all of my L lenses and 5D III and bought equivalent Nikon lenses and the D610 and next month I will be back in the States and will also buy the D800E for a 2nd body, about the menu on Nikon is actually pretty easy and within a week I knew all of the menu;)
