I received this tripod as a gift for Christmas. Its a Sunpak 6000PG. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but from setting it up it feels very sturdy. By looking are there any concerns I should l should be worried about?

I don't know the tripod, but I would look it over carefully for lose screws and fasteners. Then try it out. If you have a zoom lens or other heavy lens, mount it and see if you have any issues setting it on target and tightening it down without it sagging. Then take some shots with shutter speeds that would be unsafe to hand hold. Use the self timer or remote. Observe the lens for noticeable shake and also check your pictures for sharpness.

Those are the ~$40 tripod that for very light video camera. I wouldn't trust it to support an expensive dslr.
