At a rough guess from reading other repair quotes it will be around $200 to $300USD. But dont quote me on that.

More than the body is worth in working order. Which say to me, watch all the video's, read everything you can find and then give it a go yourself.

sravan.starke being that you are in India it might say something entirely different. Perhaps you can get it repaired there far cheaper. That's something that most of us can not answer for you.

If it was me, I would attempt to repair it myself. If I screwed it up I would sell the body as-is for repairs and buy a working body and have less in it than getting this one fixed.

I dont know too much in detail. When im taking photos with low sunlight , im not getting those white lines over there , but i can feel and hear the shutter or mirror is moving slowily when i took photos in live view rather than using the view finder

I dont know in detail. But i, having no problem when ever im not taking photos in daylight. But when i took a picture of a cfl lamp in high shutter speed, i can see the white shade and i can hear the shutter or mirror down going sound in slower when im taking photos in live view. Still i can take pictures. But the mirror sliding sound is little lagging when its in live view mode

live view has more sounds. Mirror is already up and shutter is open during live view. When you take the shot, the shutter must close and then open and close. Then it opens again to continue live view, so it sounds much different.

Are you using any filters or anything that could reflect? We have been assuming its the mirror, but since you dont see it in low light, I'm wondering what else it could be. I would observe mirror operation without a lens in cleaning mode or Manual mode.

How can i know if there is a setting like mirror up ?? sorry , im new to this camera, ive been using a d40 before this

The first thing you should do is download the user manual and read it.
Then try different mode some photos with flash some photos at different shutter speed to try to determine what the problem can be. But I strongly suspect that you will have to send it for repairs.

Hi friends, i consulted a nikon service center here and they said it is of shutter mirror mechanism problem and will cost 60$ for repairing it. And they said that the problem only exist when taking at higher shutter speeds only. And i have decided to take it to them rather than trying to repair it my self. Thanks for everyone who helped me in this topic. Even it was a coin-incidence to join this forum since my camera was down, Now i m thinking my self why i didnt join this forum alot early? Ive taking photos since 3 years starting from my nikon d40 and now at d3100 now. I will be a active member here from now on. Thanks
