Lightroom Upgrade - 5.2 to 5.3

I just opened my Lightroom 5.2 and received a notice that an upgrade was available.

I downloaded the 5.3 , installed and opened and all "seems" fine.

They added new camera and lens support along with fixing some bugs.

There was an update to Camera RAW in PhotoShop today also. Probably was the same new cameras.

Rick, I like 5 better... There were a couple improved features and new in 5... I use them a lot. The upgrades from 5 to 5.3 not so noticeable but I just keep it up to date.

I can tell you that good post processing / software is almost as important as the camera/lens you are using.

If you use LR to do the bulk of your image adjustments then I would say that it's well worth the investment to upgrade to 5 as the new tools available are a substantial step up from what's available in 4. If you use it mainly for its catalog function and do your post in Photoshop or Elements then I would say it's not necessary until you get a camera that isn't supported by 4.

Even though I personally fall in the latter category, I absolutely love the new Profile Correction additions, and the automatic perspective correction is killer. One click and lines are straight ... most of the time.

@BackdoorHippie are there a lot of changes to how the tools work when upgrading from 4 to 5? I ask because I haven't yet learned everything in LR4 and have a couple of books to use as references. I wouldn't want to have to purchase more books when upgrading.... In other words, does a lot of what you did in LR4 remain unchanged? And is it the same type of layout, or is it really different--along the lines of how things changed between LR3 and LR4? Thanks for any info!

Not many changes, @hark, mainly just additions and refinements to tools that make them more usable. Layout is very similar. Download a trial copy if you want to take a look. LR4 & 5 can co-exist.
