Hello, I'm a new guy here and want to ask about my DSLR problem.

I already use Nikon D5100 for 1 year and 5 months and still love this DSLR. I seldom to use my DSLR because I only use it when on holiday.

On August 2013, I went to a place where the sun so bright, yet still use it to take some photos cause I want to save every holiday moment. The problem begin here, this black stain come up on my picture. I dont know what happened but in my case, its maybe because of the blazing sun.

To make this problem clear, I post some images as an example of the black stain
1. I took the picture below in landscape position.

You will have to send your camera to Nikon service center to have it repaired. There are 2 possibilities:

1- mirror does not get all the way out when you take picture
2- Shutter broken or sticking.

I hope your camera is still warranty.

Best of luck.

Thanks for welcoming me :)

I haven't search a thread that have the same problem as mine in this forum because I don't know what kind of problem that I have..

After reading the whole advices on the thread you gave me, I get some points, which are :
1. save some money to buy "backup" camera like your husband suggested :)
2. do the repair ASAP before the warranty goes off!

Once again, thank you Mrs. Marilynne, the link you gave me is very helpful.

Contact Nikon service online and attach the photos you showed us. They will be able to diagnose the issue (it's almost definitely one of the two things that Marcel mentioned) and issue you a repair authorization. They should also pay for shipping if it's under warranty.

It wouldn't be the mirror.

Keep in mind that the image is projected upside down on the sensor. The mirror would block the top part of the sensor, which would be the bottom part of the image.
