Sometimes, it's just fun to wander and see what catches your eye, then stop and shoot as you please. No rhyme, no reason, all fun. I posted 3 of these pics from a trip earlier in the month already, and they can be seen in the November monthly challenge, but here's a few more found while wandering meandering state highways, etc. The only thing I was worried about was capturing the photo the way I wanted it, so I had little to no reason to rely on cropping. There may have been some "slight" crops, but not as much as was typical when I first started.
1st, we spotted a HUGE gate with the words "Frances Lake" over it, and a fairly well tended dirt road beyond, so I pulled over quickly and we meandered for quite a long while as the road kept getting narrow and more unkempt. I have one pic of the road in full glory in the aforementioned challenge, and found this road/pic MUCH deeper in. The leaves covered most of the road here, and fallen trees were barely held up by their woodsy companions. It wasn't too much farther that we had to turn around for fear of not being able to navigate further in my wee little Scion xB.
On the way out, I stopped to catch a pic of the gates themselves, as they were quite cool and "ominous", with a story all of their own to tell, I'm sure. It was then that I noticed the signs. OOPS! I think they were older, as now there were a number of driveways, houses, trailers and hovels splitting off from the road at first, so it did seem as if it were more of a public access road giving access to homesteads beyond (or at least I hope!). One of the roads, deeper in, was called "Old Hotel Road", so I was wishing I had more time to explore, but alas, we were far from home and had to continue onward. I may return some day...
