I don't know they have no respect, sit around all day playing computer games, never venture out and lack the ability to interact and be creative,

Wonder why

Beautiful lake in the middle of town surrounded by trees and grass, wouldn't it be a shame if the kids enjoyed themselves

We have lakes here and I regularly see kids fishing them with their little rods, but there are no signs saying that you cant and actually its encouraged to do so.

Maybe there is a reason for it being prohibited. Can't really go so far as to blame that on a sign on a lake. It all starts at home.

There is a reason no revenue for the council, the lake is between two and three foot deep and as kids we all fished it,there was a short period after banning it when they didn't enforce it and the kids fished happily and safely.
Health and safety is the normal answer but fishing is no more dangerous than some of the things the children do in there.

We have a small park in our little town and there is a very small pond. The city keeps it stocked so that kids can fish in it all the time. They also regularly go in and groom the shore to keep it good for fishing and for looks.

H&S is the answer to everything in the UK these days. Someone has to be responsible in case of accidents these days and it's never the parents. It lands on the shoulders of the local council and the easiest way is to ban everything. In many places it is illegal for parents to photograph their kids during sports days as it might encourage paedophiles. About time the PC brigade got their marching orders and left everyone to lead a normal life.

Its come to something when as i point my camera i have to think are there any children in the picture, one i did today with a father and son in the park i only dare do it because they where so small in the image,i know i could probably do it and have no problems but i dont want the sort of problems i could bring down on myself.
