Carry Speed straps rock!

Lol. I think the poster is a bit confused. Perhaps he read on an internet forum that this happened maybe one time. (Probably due to negligence on the owners' behalf.) The design of the attachment on the CS is pretty bombproof if you ask me.

Black Rapid straps did have a problem with cheap connectors and a faulty fasterner. They have improved, but I just don't like the strap. Carry Speed has had quality built in from the start. I've never had any problems, and their plate stays mounted to the camera without coming loose. I've hiked difficult hikes all over central and coastal Oregon with my camera gear attached to this strap without even a hint of failure. My body fails way before the strap and connector would.
But like I said... Sambr posted that he is in insurance which hints that he has had clients that lost camera equipment due to this strap. I'm calling him on the carpet here.

I can't comment specifically only on my own experience. However please remember the base of your camera was not designed so the camera be hung from it. (If your camera base plate pulls out or warps from the pressure Nikon will not fix it. ) Rather that it used for to mount a tri- pod et. I am Not going to get into a war of words and such. If it works for you great just be careful - and on mine. It was not user error the connector had broke in half.

I think there is always the potential for problems with any system like these. I check all attachment points before going out. The carry speed connection points are very impressive. I like the plate more than my tripods so I switched to an arcs Swiss style ballhead. The plate has a lot of surface contact making it extremely secure. The ball coupler is equally impressive. I really like how the ball is positioned to the hip side so the camera side rests flat on your hip.

All you folks using these straps that one day will FAIL. I hope you all have insurance on your gear. Being in the insurance business I have seen a number of cameras & lens destroyed all the big 3 manufactures are guilty. Just saying.....

Well if you claim all the big three manufacturers are guilty of it, I'm not sure what point it is you're trying to make. Surely you're not implying the obvious statement thatat eventually the strap will outlive its useful life?

Or are you saying we should all just buy camera insurance du to the other obvious statement 'accidents do happen'?

If you don't trust straps that hang from your cameras tripod mount... Op/Tech has a sling mount that is designed to attach to the cameras strap mount. I used to use Op/Tech years ago and liked their pro strap a lot. Haven't used this sling design... but its something some of you could look into.

Interesting info today.

I called the store to see if my straps had come in. He informed me that Carry Speed had been issued a cease and desist by Black Rapids for copy-write infringement. This also affects any distributors that are involved as well as Amazon. He doesn't know if Joby will suffer the same, but the CS site is down and until they can resolve any issues CS straps won't be offered in the USA. Bummer! What a sweet design, too. I miss it already. This is weak, because now I have to revert to a BR strap that screws directly into the base of the camera instead of having an easy way to disconnect it to use on a tripod. Wow.

So now I'm off to the store in a few hours to see what kind of straps BR/Joby has to offer. Suggestions welcome.

I have both straps... And for the life of me I can't see what the big deal is? The mount for both straps are totally different. No copy right infringement there. The strap itself is also a little different. If br is going after these types of straps then they need to go after op/tech and a few others. I don't think br was the first hang on the side by the tripod mount design out there either.

Yea, that's my logic as well. I think BR is pressed to become the only name in straps. At least, it seems that way. I'm only a bit leery of giving them my money now.

It's a shame I was tied into the store for that return. I would have gone home that same day and ordered the one I wanted from Amazon and had it already for my shoot Tuesday. Oh, I forgot to tell you guys that I got awarded a contract to shoot the baggage terminal at Reagan National Airport for Clark Construction :) :)

I definitely won't be buying from black rapid any more. I supported them when they were just a startup in Seattle Washington. I thought their mount design is weak anyway, but it was ok for lightweight camera bodies and smaller lenses. Because of this chicken shit action on black rapids part I won't be recommending them as an option anymore

I agree it's pretty f***** up. They're just doesn't seem to be a better option than the CS. it had the best of all things. I don't know, I will take a look today, but I'm under the assumption that I will not find what I am truly searching for.
