Jeff done some tests today,bearing in mind the lens is really a budget lens covering that range with the associated limitations on IQ,the replacement has made me consider putting some more practice into hand holding,i just need to separate camera shake from resolving power when viewing my tests.
The first one was hand held 400mm 1/400s @ F13
The second was tripod mounted 400mm 1/320s @ F13
Both at 500 iso

I have never been keen on taking my cameras out in wet weather but decided i may have to rethink that this week,the most expendable one is the D70 coupled to the kit 18-55 so that's my wet weather gear for this week.
