To colorful? I tried to lower saturation, but this only makes it more grey-ish.
Do I have to much going on..?

lapinette_1026_web.jpg

People are going crazy about this picture. A real winner with the ladies ;)
And we have this dog photographer who pretty most everybody with dogs know, she just wrote cool picture, maybe she wants me to photograph her 3 dogs - ugh scary, lol.

I like the picture and the color is good. The only thing about it that bothers me is the weeds. It takes something away from the scene. Rolling green hills would look better. Would highlight the dogs better.

Nooo the weed and bricks makes the shot work, contrast to the softish looking dogs. Location are fully intentioned.

Super shot Wud..Did you smear something on the face of the lady?
The dogs are just staring her to death & if in an animated set of pictures, you'll probably see the dogs right on her face (aaaahhh.. me & my imagination :p)
Colors look good, i would just probably crop it a little tighter on the right cos the lady's back is facing there & the dogs are looking at her face so that could give you a little more angle, as there's no subject of interest beyond her back

love the other boxing portratis too!

Lol, that could be a freaky portrait!

Did think about the closer crop but I thought it ruin some kind of balance. Agree though, nothing of interest is there - except my logo of course :fox:

Soooo Marilynne, Don and Deezey (and everybody else ;))

What if I was asked to give a small course in photography? For so what beginners - they use a camera but only on program mode, and have no clue about iso/aperture/shutter. They want to get better at photographing dogs, so I could do a simple setup with a few dogs, letting them photograph those, after taking them through the settings (could be done while photographing flowers, so they could see the results immediately).

Which price range is something like that, when remembering I am not a pro? Guessing this could be done in 3-4 hours time..? Maybe a volume 2, where we look at editing the pictures?

I only took 1 course, and that was super cheap thinking about all the stuff we got to do - 280$ for two and a half day, getting to photograph watersport, parkour and indoor. Food included! Edit tips too.

Two ways to look at it.
#1. Do it and charge what you think is a fair hourly rate for each student.
#2. Do it this time free for the exposure and to see how well it works out. If it works out good and students learn and you enjoy doing it then set up a paid course for later.

Not doing it for free and not hoping for it to be something I do regularly, just a fun sideshow kind of. I know myself, I will bake cakes, bring coffee, make prints and set up a whole show. I'll think about a hourly price, thanks :)

And here is the dog getting clean again. Eye contact with the magic ball, lol:

I think before you start, you might want to work up a plan to follow. Then after you try it you can adjust it for things you think will work better. And I would suggest having just a few students at a time, so you can spend plenty of time with each student. Also state in your offer of the class what you require them to have to be able to take the class.:)

I hope it works out great for you! :D

Thanks Bill :)

Last picture not good enough. When comparing to the first one, there isnt actually that much energy. Fooled myself there ;) I got better ones, got a few where the dog are almost walking on top of the water.

I've taken two workshops. They were both free, but they accepted $30 donations. They do this once a year. No food involved.

The first workshop was bird in flight. It was three days, two hours each day. This workshop required a 300mm lens. First day classroom, second day photo shoot, last day, review/critic. This was done over two weekends.

The second workshop was four hours at the wetlands photographing wildlife/nature/landscape. We had the wetlands to ourselves, 15 - 19 people. After two hours, we went to the water dept (they run the wetlands) for a review/critic session of our photos. There were no requirements on equipment.

Like Don stated, if not free, than a fair hourly rate. And make sure you have an agenda ready for the class like Bill suggested. Don't forget to specify equipment requirements.

$280 was really cheap for 2 1/2 days with food. There's a guy in town that charges $100 per hour for lessons, minimum 3 hours.

Marilynne, how come these workshops are free? Over here, its sooooo expensive normally (and then sometimes you get lucky, like I did with the one I went at).

Last edit for today, very pleased :)

Hmmm.....if doing just a few hours.....say 3-4 hours. I would think 40-50 dollars a person is a fair rate. You could also do a bring a friend discount for the first say 5 people and give just those people a 5 dollar discount. (This way you could use the first 5 to sign up as word of mouth advertising)

If you don't provide refreshment or whatnot....30-40 seems a little better.

If you start doing more you can start charging more.....but as I read this its more of a primer course.....not too technical....just the basics.
