Which lens do you have? I like the 18-105mm for an overall carry lens.

Taking pics indoors? Outdoors? Both?

Where in New York? City, country side? If you are looking at Nikon, the 18-105, 16-85 or 17-55 2.8 are all good choices. They range from about $300-$1400.

No budget? Wow I would go nuts and I would need a full sized truck to haul my new cameras and stuff home....................mmmmmmmmm such a good dream..............

While we're at it.......what camera do you have? This is why we ask people to fill out their profile with what equipment they're using, so we may better answer any questions they might have. It makes it very difficult to guess and give an appropriate answer. Some lenses are better suited to particular cameras.

It's in the 5100 forum so I'm guessing that's the camera he or she is using.

Yup, I understand that, but it makes it that much easier to take a quick peek to my left to see what the poster has, rather than scroll back to see what forum I'm in. :)

outdoor shots mostly , 18-55mm I have at the moment , landscapes im intrested in mostly tbh

That seems a good match. Why do you look for something else?
Maybe a monopod is a good alternative for the same range in a faster lens? Or complement with a prime at f1,4 for really low light shots?
