Thanks Joe... It is close to your 11-16 :) Hey, it makes my deck look Huge!! I snapped a few quick shots at work in the plant.. just to see the effect.. I will d/l and post when I get home.. I do have some learning to day but that is the fun part...

Ironic, I have been watching craigslist for a while and the day it arrives, 2 others pop on CL. one like yours and a Tamron.. No remorse though, mine was cheaper and new!! :)

In my area people who sell photographic equipment on craiglist have a highly inflated sense of value. I more often than not see used lens advertised at more than what a new one costs.

I hear you on that... and if you are selling, they want you to take half what you were asking..

So far, I am liking the lens alot... It is a keeper. Sharpness is quite good
as I can even see rain drops splashing in the pictures above. I am glad that I got
it, quite pleased with the deal and look forward to it having a prominant place in
my kit!!

It is actually a fairly small regional airport. We are not that far from Boston but so much easier to get in and out of!! :) It is actually New Englands 4th largest airport, serving 4 million people per year.

No vehicles on the terminal access road is indeed a rarity for any regional airport!

Just this week I listed a couple of Nikon lenses on Craigslist for reasonable prices-never sold there before-and that's exactly what happened. I received offers for less than I could get by trading them in.

I've been told there are people who concentrate on craiglist with ridiculous offers for purposes of reselling on eBay and make money at it. Somebody always wants to get rid of something at any price.

And a very nice airport, as well. When I fly to visit my M-I-L in Meredith, I now always fly into Manchester. Best of all, no Logan traffic!!

Bringing up an old thread....

~Pat
I'm considering making a purchase of this lens from Craigslist.
I've contacted the seller and he has agreed to reduce his asking price from $300 to $275.
For Sale Tokina 12-24 DX lens for Nikon
I was wondering if this would be a wise purchase decision?

How do you like it so far since you have had the chance to get more familiar with it?

I'm also interested in the Tokina 11-16mm and can't decide which lens would be better for general UW shooting.
Judging from my current collection of lens, which one should I get?

Any suggestions/advice from you and/or other members will be greatly appreciated! :)

Howdy... I assume you have looked through the thread a but.. and have seen some of my photos with it..

Lets see if I can cover it all...

Wise Purchase?? To me yes!! Looking at the ad, it looks just like mine. I paid 300 new for mine off ebay but that has been while back... used only once or twice, in as new... 275 seems fair.. Obviously take your camera and try it.. It should focus fine on your 7000 but if you have another camera (I have a 5100) it may only be in manual focus.

Ted got his first, and turned me on to the 12-24. (I bought mine from the same guy he did) What about the 11-16?? That is what I really wanted but also could not afford it. This was affordable to me and the quality of images has met with both mine and Ted's need. Reviews will likely give a nod to the 11-16 but for me, this meets my needs and more..

Couple thoughts beyond image... I loose a mm (11-12) but gain on the other end (24-16) so to me it is actually a little more versatile due to the increased range, (my opinion).

I like it, it is very good general UW for my needs... No regrets... if they were both the same price, I would have gone 11-16 but I do not see enough gain for the price difference For ME

Understand, you need to google wide angle and learn abit about HOW to use these lens... things can be different as to your composition!! :) (fun once you learn!)

Good Luck!
