Thanks for the update.
I absolutely love my 7100. But feel Nikon really dropped the ball. By not giving the option of a clip on lcd cover.

Oh well

I tried a protective film. Didn't like it at all.
Haven't got around to ordering a glass one yet.
Will probably order in a couple of weeks

I use the GGS gen 1 screen protectors for both D5100 & D7000.
Am quite satisfied to say the least as the zipper from the bag had started scratching the glass on the D7000..
but i can't see any visible markings now on the GGS screen protector...

Here's a brief on it - http://nikonites.com/other-photogra...een-protectors-d5100-d7000.html#axzz2W22xb0dL

Thanks WL.. I have not been able to find the gen 1 for the 7100.. I do not care for the newer Gen's where they go over the eyepiece..

Appreciate the response and the link..

Rocky, you could choose the GGS screen protectors made for the D800 & D600..
The screen sizes are the same (3.2 inch) so they should be a fit, no?

Just ordered a GGSII glass screen protector for the D600 from Amazon.
The reviewers said it fit the 7100 just fine.
I will let you know how it works out. At $5 the price is right.

After a couple days use. I can say that the GGS for the D600 fits great.
Just what I was looking for. And does not create any noticable build up (which I was worried about)

$5 on Amazon

Just installed the LARMOR by GGS Self-Adhesive Optical Glass LCD Screen Protector for NIKON D7100. Got it on eBay for $19 and it was a perfect fit.

The first time I placed it wasn't perfectly aligned, but I was able to get it loose and reapply it with no ill affects to the glass's adhesion. The smaller glass for the lcd displace was easy to apply.

Bought it here received it within a day ot two.:

I received the Larmor LCD glass screen protector just now. It's really good. Took just a few minutes to install and it looks really good.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00DJKWO70/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Nicely packaged, includes a screen wipe (wet) , a super fine fibre cloth (dry) and the two screens. Each screen has two plastic films numbered clearly 1 and 2 on each side. The sticky side is 1, and you apply this side first, until it sticks itself to the LCD - you simply hold the protector down by its corners. You can remove any bubbles pressing the film. When you're happy, peel off film 2.
There were no bubbles with either of mine and its a really nice looking protector...in fact, with black edgings, it's hard to spot as it does look pretty much like part of the camera.

I can see no aberrations at all either in the main LCD or in the top LCD. This is nice.

Cost £13.50

Gorilla Glass is a product of Corning (GLW). I own some of the company.......lol.

Seems Nikon have used something like Gorilla Glass for the first time in their screens. These are renowned for their strength ... Which may explain why Nikon felt no protective screen was needed now.

I bought the Larmar for D7100 listed on Ebay. It included the top screen as well. Easy install, looks great. I highly recommend it. It was under $15 (including shipping).

Diazinon: yep, that's the one. I bought mine off Amazon UK, but its exactly the same. Advert on Amazon says its 4th generation, though I couldn't see that anywhere on the packaging.

Still a great product

If they did use gorilla glass, you'd be fine without anything at all or just a basic film one to be on that extra safe side. After all, its not like those iphones.

Ive actually cut up one of my spare iphone screen protectors and fitted it on. not sure if it's because the lcd had a tiny bit of oil from a fingerprint (even though i cleaned it thoroughly), but it doesn't seem like it will last long

Which one won't last long - the d7100's native screen material or the one from your old iPhone?

My take on the d7100's native screen material is it's some sort of plastic. The LARMOR Optical Glass seems to be of a higher grade material.

..., but it doesn't seem like it will last long
