You can tell its spring. There are a lot of chicks hanging out at Wakodahatchee Wetlands...

Reflections

I don't know if this little guy was hunting for fish or keeping him/herself company, but I loved this shot. I haven't been able to id the type of bird yet. This was also at Wakodahatchee.

Edit... Thanks to Marilynne for id'ing the bird in the picture as a Black Crowned Night Heron.

I love how the reflection came out. I had to look at it closely.

I was going through some more Wakodahatchee pictures and I took a second look at this one. The first time I went through these I hadn't noticed the reflection at all. I thought it was really cool.

Went outside to take some pictures of the standing water during the heavy rains. This is what the D600 looked like afterwards. It really is weatherproof. Dried it off with a towel and its good to go. (pardon the crappy cellphone pic)

btw... The sunshade works equally well as a rainguard.

How much standing water did you have? Ours was at least 6 inches, maybe more. I'll have to measure the water line on my flower pots tomorrow. Hope Lake Okeechobee got some of this!!

Not that bad. You had a LOT more rain than we did. We got about 3.5" today. I tried to take panorama of the street, I'll try to stitch it tonight and upload it.

It rained pretty good this past Saturday and we had a couple of Mottled Ducks stop by. I've never seen these in my neighborhood before so I grabbed the camera.

I stopped by the Wakodahatchee Wetlands this morning. It rained all day yesterday, so I figured everything would be out and about today. I was right, it was a target rich environment.
I barely got into the park when this Green Heron landed right next to me on the handrail.

Next up was an Anhinga perched right above the waterline. I loved how the ripples on the water came out, it almost looks like a Photoshop effect.

These are the same Great Blue Heron Chicks I posted earlier. My how they have grown!

I came across these two Anhinga's that were playing in the water.

At first I thought they were wrestling, but it turns out they were playing leapfrog ::what::

I have not been able to identify this one, maybe someone here knows?
Edit... Thanks Marilynne, this is a Cattle Egret.

I'm pretty sure this is a Green Heron chick.

These were the cutest things I saw today. Black Necked Stilt.

A Trifecta of Tri Colored Herons. They were all posed exactly the same, but right when I took the shot the one on the far end had to itch.

Another Anhinga

I think these are so cool. They look like a fake Decoy. Whistling Duck.
