Trying to figure out when I'm going to take my nap and which way I'm headed. Sure would love to have the D600 with me, but I'm covered. You headed up towards the Poconos, John?

Unfortunately, I'm right on the dashed line. I call it the "maybe zone". Too many trees where I live, and my wife is out of town with the car and may not return tonight. So many "IFs". If she does return, I might drive up to the National forest on top of the Blue Ridge and pick a north facing overlook. Only problem then will be to get permission to stay that late from the Park Rangers.

I'm in the 'fair' zone - which is usually pretty good. However - it'll most likely be overcast (still) and snowing and/or raining (still) like it has every day since my camera got here Monday lol. But if, by some miracle, it actually clears and I can actually see something - yep I'll be out in a barren, soggy (by now) cornfield grabbing shots! What better way to break in a new camera :D

Oh man, I would be so stoked if I had a chance to see them. I was in Fairbanks, AK., but it was dead middle of the summer and it really never got dark enough to see these lights, if they were even happening.

I'm in the middle of the "fair zone" but considering it will be overcast and probably raining tonight, I doubt I'll get to see the aurora. :(

Growing up in Northern Canada I've seen them a lot (even ones that I wish to this day I had a camera at the time). I have even heard them (yes if they are strong enough you can actually hear them). It should be interesting to see them from this latitude (fair zone). Hope it is clear tonight! Thanks for the heads up!

Not here in NJ. Spent an hour with a clear sky and then watched the clouds roll in. I packed up and headed home. Clouds are supposed to break around 1AM, which is when the lights are supposed to hit. I'm debating whether or not to go back out or just take a stab at shooting them closer to home, or just sleeping.

Nothing in Central PA either. I keep checking every 20 minutes as I live in a rather dark area. Still clear skies and did see a really great meteor that lite the place up.
