I have screen protectors on all my electronics. Check out Zagg for products. I think you can buy a hard plastic screen for Nikon cameras from adorama or b&h. Eventually you may want to get better glass that the kit lenses. Make the difference is VR and better clarity. I read a recent article comparing the Nikon 18-200 vs Tamron 18-270. Nikon won hands down but at a higher cost. Looking at the sigma 18-250 as a compromise.
