I'd rather have a tractor that you didn't need to pull with rope

Same here. I did have to use the Jeep once to pull the tractor out of a ditch during a snowstorm when my husband forgot we had a ditch right by the driveway and the tractor slid down, snowblower end first. BTW, it's not a garden tractor, but a John Deere 770, if that gives you an idea.

My new camera bag finally arrived. I bought a Tamrac. I have had them before. They last for years and years. My last large one wore out a couple of years ago but when I had only one camera body, I could get away with a smaller one. Now with the second camera body, I ran out of space, fast.

I had a lot of fun getting all my equipment in it, and I still have room! WooHoo.

As I consolidated my lenses and such, I realized I had a pre-autofocus Nikkor 35 mm f/1.4 on my old N8008. For fun, I put it on the D7000 and took a few shots. I love really fast lenses, that's for sure. I took the following using available light and at f/1.4. That is one nice lens.

Oh how envious I am of your bag and equipment!! Congrats it looks like it'll keep everything safe and handy :)
Thanks. I have been looking for a larger bag for a while and kept going back to that one, so I finally bit the bullet and bought it. The worst part was having to wait for it to be delivered by UPS.

I was going to go outside this afternoon when I got home from work, but it was snowing... :( That resulted in taking advantage of the opportunistic feline. Spooky was sitting right next to me while I was checking my e-mail. He is now engraved in zeros & ones forever. :)

I have been doing most of my post processing on my macbook pro using ViewNX for upload and some tweaking, then Photoshop Elements for anything else I might need to do, such as watermarks. Today, I used Aftershot Pro & Gimp in Linux. It worked out just as quickly, and I think the photos came out just fine.

I was trying to do something with candles, tripod, available light, and my new remote shutter release. I had this frog votive candle holder and after playing with it for a few minutes, I came up with something. The light is coming from the votive candle. The remote shutter release is not wireless, but wired (Nikon MC-DC2). It connects into the gps port. It worked perfectly.

I took a walk around the house and noticed live, green organisms growing!!! Yes, it really must be spring! My tulips are coming up. No flowers yet, but here's hoping.

Then, after dinner, I was sitting in the recliner and got this opportunistic feline photo:

Today was such a beautiful day that I took advantage of it. Took a lot of photos, so I am going to break them into groups.

Group 1:
Before wandering out and about, I did not have to go far to see some interesting images.

We have a lot of crows around here that never seem to leave. This guy was surveying the area from the tree top.

A View From Above

I always enjoy watching the flocks of geese fly overhead. We get a lot of them because we are in the middle of one of the East Coast migration corridors. I heard these guys way before they ever came into view.
A Formidable Formation

This stump is in the woods behind our house. It always intrigued me due to how it looks but it never seemed to be in the right light until this morning. The bluish cast on the stump itself is due to the abundance of lichen growing on it.

I ended up down at the Susquehanna River. I have always found that is an interesting place to photograph.

Group 2:

As I walked down to the river, I saw this one area that, to me, exemplified how the river bank looks every spring. All though it looks so benign right now, you can see the result of the power and energy in water when it flows.

I love the way this came out in B&W but I included the color version for comparison.

Moving just a few feet along the bank, I came across this. It was the holes in the dead tree that caught my eye first.

We have so many geese around here there is always ample opportunity to get interesting photos of them. I was actually able to get within 15 - 20 feet of this nesting pair, but it took almost 30 minutes. I took a bunch of photos, but I liked these best. I love how, the reflections in the water get distorted once the geese get in and start swimming, especially in the last photo.
