Before I say anything on the technical merits, let me ask you this - what statement are you trying to make with this image? I read your title and it made me curious.

Like Ted wrote, straighten the horizon and I think I would crop out the post on the right. It's a vertical line making a pattern with the horizontal ones that I find distractive.

Oh it is a decent snap I don't mind the tilt I think it adds to the mystique the pole has to go however (I might even take out the man on the right too)...the only thing I would say is in the future be extremely careful when shooting homeless people and the such.

I don't think he is telling us to avoid the poor. I think it was in reference to the man walking to the BACK of the man sitting on the sidewalk. Which would negate the suggestion of cropping him out. Then it would be telling us to avoid him.

Provocative photo, that's for sure. I like the perspective of the shot, the saturation and hue is right on. Horizon off just enough to make it annoying visually (just a tad). Overall.....nice shot.
