D5100 Settings

DO NOT GET INTO A RAW VS JPEG DISCUSSION .

What are the out of the norm setting you use on your D5100

I am talking about the ones like Normal or vivid settings and the over rides like Sharpness, contrast etc.

Anything that you set that is not the default.

Don, I was too new so I did not change any of the "default" settings that you mentioned. I have not messed with them to date as I make those type of adjustments in LR.

What I have found works really well, at least for me, is...
.
Color Profile: Standard
Sharpening: +6 or +7
Saturation: +1, sometimes +2
.
That's really all it needed. The sharpening was probably the biggest improvement - and definitely needed to be changed from the default - but the bump in saturation is noticeable as well while being more subtle, I think, than the "Vivid" color profile.

I find when I am edit any of my shots I normally kick up the contrast and sharpen so I set standard and vivid up one in contrast and sharpen up to 6 or 7. I have even carried it up to 9 before with good results.
