RAW vs JPEG

Yes this is very true, I am just concerned with the write speed of the D800 and if I take multiple shots in succession. I would have to wait a period of time to be able to re-use the camera and in doing so can also make me miss that perfect shot.

I have a single 16gb extreme pro card that read/writes at 95mb/sec for times like this and have yet to have shots back up in the buffer. Consider picking up one of these cards, if you don't already have one. They're pricey, but at least you won't get bogged up with buffer overload.

Hmmmm I should have got a few of those instead of the 4 x 32 gb 45mb/s ones that I bought... May have to look at getting a few more. Can never have too many cards I guess.

A Jpeg edited and cropped... Still not sure about this. As if you get settings right a Jpeg works.

I'm sure it does work fine when the light is right. It's when the contrast is too high that you could run into problems.
I have a high contrast pic that I just took so will see how that turns out :). I want to see if its viable or not before I go to Africa...

There are some leaves that were burned through by the sky. Can you recuperate these with the jpeg? If you can, then maybe you'll be all right.
I cannot recover that lost detail, maybe if I had of under exposed more then maybe. I will have to try the same shot/settings in Raw and see the difference.
