Hi all, next month I will finally be purchasing my D5100 and I will be eventually purchasing the Capture NX2 but I am unable to afford that right now! As its £170!! I am new to all this so I wanted to know if anyone has any good alternatives for the time being? Thank-you in advance, Cat

You can download and try Photoshop Elements 11 for 30 days, see if that fits your bill, or even Lightroom 4.
PE11 is about £60 and LR4 is about £90

I am trying to remember the old version. Was it a separate program or was it built in like it is now.

Downloaded new version and the Nikon Transfer 2 no longer works. Got message I needed Quicktime. Downloaded that and it still doesn't work. Glad I did a restore point. Going back to old.

You might have to uninstall the previous version before installing the newer one. Did you do that?

The install removed the old version prior to install. I've even rebooted.
OS REQUIREMENTS.
Windows 7 Home Basic/Home Premium/Professional/Enterprise/Ultimate, Windows
Vista Home Basic/Home Premium/Business/Enterprise/Ultimate (Service Pack 2),
Windows XP Home Edition/Professional (Service Pack 3)
This application
requires a computer with a pre-installed operating system.
If you use 64-bit
version Windows 7 or 64-bit version Windows Vista, operation takes place under
32-bit compatibility environment. DO YOU HAVE SERVICE PACK 3?
MAYBE TIME FOR A NEW COMPUTER.

Check against the requirements (specifically SP3 for XP).
Also, have you checked that QT is installed and working correctly.

What is the error message (if any).

Certainly wouldn't jump into buying a new PC just yet :)

Error message is Nikon Transfer 2 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
