Food photography/advertising hits a new low

I just saw an ad on Facebook and I had to laugh. It's for a BBQ place in NC, and there's a nice little gem of a picture of their food. Here it is:

"North Carolina BBQ at it's finest. Pulled Pork with Fried Brussel Sprouts, Fries and Cornbread. Your welcome Thursday."

Now, I've seen good Instagram pictures before, but this is possibly the worst I've ever seen. Not only does it make their food look disgusting to potential customers, it's an insult to photographers. Why would they spend money on advertising in social media but not spend money on someone who at least knows how to take a picture? Simple, they thought they could save money, but in reality it hurts them. Obviously they don't have a big budget, but at very least don't put a horrendous filter on the already bad cell phone pic. WOW

Ouach! What a pile of ugly looking food.

I guess some people don't have the eye for beauty… I'm not sure they'll attract a lot of people with this shot.

Thanks for posting.

It looks like they have a habit of posting instagram photos on their Facebook page. Here's another one:

Ironically, they've obviously worked with a real photographer before - either that or one of their customers just happened to bring in their camera. This is the cover photo:

Except the photos above weren't taken by the customers, they were taken by management to promote their food!

That's horrible! What are these people thinking?!? I suppose in the same way people are tone deaf, there's a class of people who are aesthetically blind.

Exactly. Judging by their fb page they think its perfectly okay to take pics of their food with a cell phone for promotion purposes.

On the other hand they did see the importance of hiring a photographer for a Sandy fundraiser they had.
