I was surprised about its performance on my D800E. Not bad for a DX lens. Sample shot in DX mode.

Way To Go,Ther's no looking back now. It's prime or nothing LOL,Joe

Yesterday was a perfect example. I had taken 2 additional lenses with me and had my new prime in the camera. I used the 35mm for everything. I can already feel the addiction now.

I see you also use the 18-50 sigma. What would you say is the best part of you new prime 35 vs the 35 range of you sigma? I am also looking at the 35. 1.8 but I need a tele ( at least up to 300mm) for this winter and being on a budget (married...) and having the 18-105 kit lens, I was debating on saving the 200 bucks for the tele. I take quite afew indoor pics of pets and food for my wife's blog/business but she is happy with what I shoot now and honestly I am too but I have only owned my D7000 since may and this is the only lens I have. I know it gets better but I need to prioritize. So, tell me what makes you the most happy about your prime vs the siggy. Thanks.

The best part about the prime vs my zoom is I can dial it down to 1.8 of need be. I used it for video and pictures and my zoom stayed in the bag. I guess you could use your zoom at the 35mm distance, but somehow it's just different. The pictures are so crisp.

Same here, my 35 mm 1.8 G is a great landscape lens for me.

Thanks,
Alex

It's the only lens I've used all weekend and I am in no rush to take it off. Kind of feel foolish buying my zooms when I could have just purchased this lens from the beginning.

Resting comfortably on my hard drive. I'll process some tomorrow and toss a couple up.

So are you still enjoying your 35mm 1.8? What have you shot the most with it? I have heard a lot of great things about the lens.
You should post some photos you've taken with it!

I am so very happy with this lens. I have no plans on removing it from my camera. I purchased it specifically to photo and video an event I went to on Saturday.

Very nice. Ive only photographed people with it so far. I'm excited to take it out walking this weekend. I would recommend the 35 first if you are considering a prime lens. It will allow you to frame more in the shot especially of you are using it indoors in a small room during the holidays for instance. The 50mm will require you to be a bit farther away to get everything you want in the shot.
