Good Deal or No Deal?

I currently own a D200 with a D70 back up. I'm getting more and more video requests so I was looking to upgrade my DSLR to give me a second video camera(I have a dedicated Samsung video camera). I was looking at the latest DSLR's (7000, 7100, 600 and 5200) and then went to a local shop. They had a used D7000 for just under $500 because the hot shoe didn't work on it. The flash still works in pop up and Commander mode. I currently don't use Strobes for my work. Should I be leery of the hot shoe issue or see this as a great deal?

I do not think it's a great deal for a broken camera. For $550 you could get a NEW D5100 body, same sensor as the D7000 with an articulating screen (better for video?)

For me I wouldn't consider it a great deal. When it comes to your business I wouldn't want to rely on something that has an uncertain issue.

What Rick M. said, why get an old used broken camera when you can ge a new D5100 with the articulating preview screen that's much better for video!

Thanks

I would not buy a broken camera. The hot shoe may not be the only problem. Check out the refurbished cameras at Cameras for Sale | Buy a Digital Camera from Cameta Camera
They come with a 1 year warranty and you can buy body only and use the lenses you have.
