So I just purchased a D4 and took it out on a session. Loved it. LOVED IT. I was using a D7100..... whoa big difference. So I imported through lightroom, made some color adjustments and exported with my same file settings (100% quality 350 dpi) My file inside lightroom was 4928x3280, I checked it on camera, same size. However, when I exported via lightroom, my files were half the size as my D7100 were producing. My average size on the D7100 was around 11-13MB and my D4 exported at roughly 4-6MB. I spent 2 hours on the phone with Nikon with no answer... I was hoping someone who actually shoots with a D4 can help me?! Thanks you thank you xoxo

The difference is in the megapixels of each camera, the D7100 is 24MP the D4 is 16MP. So alot less data stored in a D4 Raw image file.

If you export at 100% quality, don't limit long or short edge lengths and go 300dpi you can print massive. I have a 6' x 4' canvas on my wall. Looks awesome.

How big are the files you are exporting Kevy? I'm getting around 4-5MB, does that sound right? I probably would not be as concerned if I didn't purchase refurbished... I have a wedding Thursday and want to make sure I'm good to go.

Mine are usually around the 9 to 13mb

I use Lightroom to export as 100% quality jpg.

I shoot RAW and export as JPG.

According to the manual-- a large RAW file should yield and image 4928x3280 in size. In camera, that's what I have. In lightroom, that's what I have. However when I export my files are only 3-5MB in size. I am exporting at 100% quality and 350dpi.... HELPPP!!!

Where do I find that at... my export setting do not show that option. It shows H or W but not long or short edge.

I just went in and export a photo from my D7100, I got a 10MB file... AHHHHHHH!!!!! I am so confused!!!!
Depending on the detail in a photo the raw file size and data will vary, if you have mostly black or white it will be smaller. If you have lots of details it will be larger.

Have you gone through all the image settings of the camera? Does that model have a DX mode option? Is the image quality setting at its best? On the D700 I have not seen an image file less than 6MP, it is a 12 MP, FX format camera. Hope you get it figured out prior to your upcoming event.

Yes-- I was on the phone with Nikon for several hours and we did a factory reset and made sure my settings were correct. Though my images are exporting around 5MD, when I open the file, the dimensions are the same-- around 4,900 and 3,200 which is huge... I think I'm ok???
