Wat Rong Khun is a contemporary unconventional Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai, Thailand. It was designed by Chalermchai Kositpipat. Construction began in 1996 and is expected to be completed 60 - 90 years after the death of the artist and designer.

You can do lots of activities there. Especially kids. I like that restaurant cos you learn lots of other cultures.

Is there a point of significance that it won't be finished for so long until after the death of the temple designer or is it that elaborate that they figure it will just take that long?

He uses his money, some donation and it's a private project. And Thais uses to express a long time a big number of years. And a temple will never be finished, too.

Re: Walkaround Thailand

I am enjoying looking at your photos, thanks for posting them.

Some of them bring back memories for me, I spent over 12 months in Thailand in the late 1980's, I travelled all over and learnt to speak Thai. I loved the people, the culture, and the food.

My good friend who travelled with me for some of that time, went back in 1995 and has lived in Thailand ever since. He now lives on the coast, south of Bangkok.
