Tried "smart sharpen" (gimp) on the moon image. First is the original and second the "smart sharpened". What's the deal, good? or bad? Comment, please.

The sharpen and noise reduction filters in GIMP are kind of dated by now. I prefer to use RawTherapee's tools for sharpen and noise reduction. I export to GIMP primarily for tasks that require layer processing now.

The smart sharpen is over-baked. A white outline around the moon is just not natural. It also looks "flatter" than the original (less depth illusion in the texture).

I feel that the second Moon Shot is better than the first! Yes the white outline around the second moon is an issue, but the detail in the second moon is superior.
