Expo Foto 2012 began yesterday here in San José. It is being held in the old customs house next to the Iglesia Santa Teresita. They are showing the works of some 50 photographers--the majority from Costa Rica, but some from as far as Uruguay and Poland. Some very impressive stuff.
There are many vendors offering "sales." The reality, however, is that with import taxes, photographic equipment is nearly twice the price as in the states. I looked at a Nikkor 35mm f1.8 "on sale" for $365; you can buy it on Amazon for $199. Guess I'll have to wait until spring, when I visit the states, to do my upgrades.
