Got my new Tamron 24-70 f2.8 today. This is a test shot with it on the way home from work. I'm really pleased with the lens so far and on my D5100 the AF is super quick!

Quick detour on my way to work this morning. A bit of a gloomy, overcast day so not the best shots today.

Another urban art. This time it was some sort of competition spinning wheel. I'm sure there is some deep-rooted message embedded in this piece, but I couldn't find it.

Another 'Baby Guerrilla' Paste-up near the one from Day 21. This one I could get a little closer to and felt it could use a little Black & White treatment to bring out the detail in the illustration.

No time today to get out and take a proper picture. I was asked at work to dispose of an old camera so it looks like my son Michael will have his first Nikon!

Australia day today, and that traditionally means beer and BBQ... however my better half decided this would be a 'DSLR free day' so it stayed home. Here is a shot I sneaked of my son playing 'air guitar' with a golf club.

Had a quick play with the Tamron 24-70 on the D800 today. This lens was meant for a full-frame and my D5100 just doesn't do it justice.
I particularly liked the distance I can get from the subject and still auto focus.

One month down... and only one crappy smart-phone shot (not counting the several crappy DSLR shots :) )

Lunch time trek through the city and came across a building which I have wanted to shoot for a while. It is a beautiful blue-stone construction which at certain times of the day, is lit up by the sun and throws some amazing shadows. Unfortunately this was not one of those times, so I had to work with the light available. What caught my eye was the position of this 19th century building between two modern constructions.

this one is not from today but I while I was playing around with HDR this was one I had taken day 29 and wanted to see how it would look.

Just a subtle use of HDR but I was happy with the result.

My eldest's first day at 3 year old kinder (not sure what it is called in the US... pre-school) today, so I took the day off work to be there for the occasion.
This was him posing for the shot. I wanted to go for a bit of a de-saturated look at first, but then I found I liked the aged two-tone just as well.

Anyway here's both.

Spent the weekend with a house full of children; both mine and my sister-in-laws. What do you do with 5 kids all under 6??? Take them to the local park and let them run around until they can't stand anymore!
It wasn't a really great 'photographic' day, but the kids had fun.

This one is probably the best of a bad bunch. It was my nephew looking into a 'crazy mirror'.
