    Bye!

Goodbye everyone. There have been some posts recently that have made me reconsider using this forum & I've now decided to leave. That you to everyone who helped me to start-up after my 30 year break. I will of course continue to enjoy my photography skills & wish everyone the best of luck. x

    Lake Photo - Any suggestions?

I checked the photo in Lightroom & agree with STM, the water was too dark & had little detail. Hope you don't mind, but I downloaded your shot & processed the hell out of it. The bird has a few artefacts now that need to be tweaked, but maybe gives you an alternative idea. I processed it a...

    Lighting for aquariums

Hi I need to improve my aquarium fish shots & am finding lighting an issue. The below shot was taken in a display tank with 2 strong LED light units. Even then, I'm dealing with only f8 for DoF - I'd like a few more stops. I cannot use flash for fish - they do not have eyelids & it would...

    Fujifilm X10

I've noticed that several forum members have an X10. I'd be interested in more info about this camera for use as a spare/take anywhere type of camera. One thing I noted was that some of the early X10s had issues with particles on the sensor/or inside the lens. Is this a common issue? Also WRT...

    Saving Sony

Ahh you know that's going back to my old hi-fi days. My deck & speakers were Linn, amps were Naim. Although the Nakamichi Dragon was a great deck (I had one), I replaced it with the little Sony Walkman pro (aimed at pro musicians) which had better sound quality. :)

    How to use bracketing?

Thank you both @Vixen I tried holding down the shutter button (in single shot mode), but it just took the one shot. In fact, this is the first annoyance I've found with the D810. Everything else seems to be well thought-out. I'd have thought that if a user set bracketing to 3 shots - that they...

    How to use bracketing?

I was trying to figure out how bracketing works last night. I think I made a mess of it. Pressing & holding the bracket button enables me to set the number of shots & amount of exposure difference using the front & rear wheels. When I then framed a shot & pressed the shutter button, I expected...

    Grrr! Power supply fail!

To replace an Enermax PSU which blew & took out my motherboard, I bought the best PSU I could find - a Seasonic Platinum 860W. I thought it would last me for 10 years! It was very expensive. That was January 2013. This morning it failed. Pop! My computer cut out, I was able to get it running...

    Lightroom problem

I rebuilt my computer with a new drive c & fresh install. The old system was Windows 7 32bit, the new install is Windows 7 64bit. The Lightroom catalogue was always on my drive D which was untouched. After my computer rebuild, Lightroom initially set up a catalogue on drive c, which I changed to...

    Watermark with graphic & text?

I'd like to do a watermark with a small graphic & text. Lightroom seem to offer either a graphic, or text, but not both. Is there a way to do this in Lightroom or would I need to create a larger graphic that includes the text?

    My Nikon D810 Shots

@Phillydog1958 Reviewing your lens kit, I notice that you have the 24-70mm f2.8 (trinity lens), yet you have the 16-35mm f4 & 70-200mm f4 lenses. At the moment, I am following a chosen route of the f4 lenses, but have a nagging feeling at the back of my mind that I should get the trinity...

Windows 7 Rebuild - Creative Cloud Files & ColorMulki

Windows 7 Rebuild - Creative Cloud Files & ColorMunki My new SSD arrived yesterday afternoon & I spent until midnight building up. Also a good few hours kicking my legacy apps to make them work, until I used Virtual PC. So this morning, new install Windows 7 64bit Pro, 512gb SSD, 16gb RAM, all...

    Lightroom metadata

Is there a way within Lightroom to view the metadata of all your shots at once? I'd like to check which focal lengths I'm favouring, I know that's in Lightroom, but only if I scroll the photos one-by one?

What should I buy with my new D5300?

Grrrr! That young @Eyelight! ;) To be fair, it depends on your shooting style & how long you may be away on a trek. Myself, coming from 35mm cameras 30 years ago, I'm used to taking only 2 or 3 shots of a particular subject. My battery lasts for about 200 shots & I recently took a vacation for...
