Really good first try! Keep it up and it only improves! Next, try getting setup for a more natural setting, i.e., get rid of the block and build some kind of a log feeder that looks natural. Get a better background for a more natural look and a beautiful bokeh.

Yeah just what I had to hand really , but wanted to try out the lens and tripod and first time I have used the remote as well.
Coming soon is a small zoom lens to tide me over till I get the big telephoto , but it's all practice.

Heheh that's certainly enough bait there! That's an entire buffet! :D Maybe just a few small bits so you can make out the bird behind the bread, LOL. Just teasing. I think it is great that you've taken a professional nature photographer's approach with camouflage, bait, tripod, and I'm really impressed you get that close with a 50mm lens. That's showing real resourcefulness and working with what you have. Great job.

yeah it all be gone by morning as well the greedy gets.The tripod was camouflaged with ivy and twigs and just about a metre and half away but yeah nothing wrong witn using what you have.
