Samyang 14mm F2.8

Got a 20% off offer from e bay so managed to get this for £184 ( $220 ? )
had it tested by a very sceptical RAW friend of mine " very impressed at F4 and up)
Was worried that the focus might be a problem ...not to do but in the time delay to do it ....but found 60% of the time it was in focus already or the >< lights flashed and reminded me ....use it for shots inside stretch limos and rooms and churches .
Very pleased and that bit wider and a lot sharper than the Sigma 17-35 which I still love at the $60 I paid. I just crop in if its too wide .

Blacktop ..loads of definition for cropping if its a bit too wide ..well on the D800 at least and I only do jpeg large basic ..
You could easy say its a 14-28 crop lens !!

Tsk tsk tsk. ;)
I'm still looking at other options as well. problem is, that even a 20mm f2.8D is close to 600 dollars, and the AI-S version is not much more affordable either. I would love a Tokina 16-28 f2.8 but I don't really need the top half of that zoom range for my UWA shots. For something right now the Samyang makes the most sense while saving for something even nicer.

The Samyang is pretty good and cheap. I love it but in the end don't use it as much as I first expected. In the beginning it was tempting to shoot everything extremely wide but after a while I realized not all shots benefit of that. But it's a very good lens to have in the kit. She's very sharp and with a good profile, easily corrected.

There's also the Samyang 24mm f/1.4 which is a great lens too but not as cheap. But the f/1.4 also makes her perfect for night photography.

When it comes to sharpness both lenses lead the (D750) list of the <25mm primes.
