"Round and/or Unique, Unusual Door" - (Tami Jo & Robin W)'s Choice

Door that is round, unique or unusual. A unique door with a round design, or a triangular door that is blue, etc........ This could have some really interesting results. Don't give up too soon. Let's see how creative you can be! Color, B&W, HDR...anything goes!

DO NOT SHOOT OR POST IMAGES UNTIL WEDNESDAY Jan. 23
This early announcement of the topic is to give a little think time, before the challenge begins. Photos must be taken and submitted between 00:00 UTC of the start date and 00:00 UTC of the end date.

The Rules

1. Photos must be captured with a Nikon and appear in the thread with EXIF info in order to be considered for the challenge. If the forum EXIF viewer does not show for any reason, listing the camera and capture date/time below the photo is acceptable. Listing exposure info, lens & focal length is encouraged so others can learn.

2. Any photo submitted for a weekly challenge must be taken during the dates specified in the challenge thread.

3. Only one photo entry per member for each week, unless otherwise noted.

4. All regularly active members of Nikonites are allowed to participate, including moderators and administrators.

Voting

During the submission & like periods, please click the Thanks/Like button to vote for your favorite images. You can vote for as many as you want! At the end of the week, you will have the opportunity to vote again for the top 3 photos for this challenge!

There will be no cash or prizes awarded for the Weekly Photo Challenges, unless specifically noted by the site administrator.

Any photo will be accepted for the challenge. Edited or straight out of the camera, it does not matter. You are left with complete freedom to do whatever genre of photography you wish to do, and your own interpretation of the challenge subject.

@ Call_Me_Tom This challenge runs until Wednesday the 23rd which gives a little more time for our fellow Nikonites
to be included in the challenge and submit their photographs. Those are really cool finds though, splashes of color
lives up theotherwise shades of grey buildings:cool:.

The challenge is based on UTC time. For my time zone, that means it ends Tuesday at 7pm.

I see, I was thinking the week of Sunday through Saturday instead of Wednesday through Wednesday.

Thank you on the complement, the lens is soft though, I need to figure out how to fine tune this thing. I post process if I have to but I prefer to have everything handled in camera. The softness and vignetting irritates me.

I had shot this door on a blacksmith shop before the weekly challenge began and didn't think I would be able to get back to shoot it again, but....
today, I had to drive the 100 miles for a Doctor appt. and was able to shoot at it again.

This is an interesting door, can you tell us more about it? Is it steel or wood, handmade, 2 or 200 years old?

I have several very different ideas but haven't yet shot anything. Hmm...do I choose eenie, meenie, or miney? ;) Hoping to shoot at least one before this ends in just under 8 hours.

I'd go with mo.

Lol @Marilynne - okay, so I decided to take you up on your edited comment! ;)

My choices were:

  • Eenie - the round gas cap door on our SUV
  • Meeine - an antique door shot with a rectilinear fisheye lens which would distort the door (the option I was really leaning towards)
  • Miney - the glass door on an antique mantel clock

But here is my Mo that I came up with just for you (as if no one has ever seen this door) :beguiled:

Cindy,

Funny you posted the memory card door, I had the same idea last night after what I was trying to photograph wasn't turning out as well as I had hoped!

I am hopefully that I will have some time after work today to give it one more shot and get my entry submitted.
