While learning about shooting video with my D7200, I'd read lens focus noise was a pretty typical issue with the on camera mics. So I decided to buy one of these:

Unfortunately, I still get lens focus noise. I've tried lowering the mic sensitivity, changing from wide range to voice range, using the wind cover, removing the mic from the hotshoe, and trying different lenses; all with no luck. The only thing that helped was holding the mic 8"+ away from the camera.
Is this just the way things are? Anything else that I can try?
