It depends on what you mean by "problems".
I can't comment on the II. I'm using the TC 14E III not the II. Everything "works". AF works, exposure is fine. None of those kinds of problems.
But the image quality takes a hit. So does AF speed and performance. Wide open at 500 without the TC, I think the image quality of the lens is very good. It's got good contrast, sharpness, OOF areas are good. With the TC, all of that is less good. On my 70-200/2.8, my TC 14E III is terrific. Wide open it's great. It's so good I have never bothered to even look at the 300/4E. But it's just not as good on the 200-500 for me.
