Not sure if I can explain this well. Here's my issue.

Over the past 3 weeks I find my 70-200 2.8 acting weird.

I'm shooting soccer and to get a properly exposed image Im shooting 1/4000 at f22.... in the past it was usually around 1/2000 at f5.6 in the same lighting conditions.

yesterday at the game I was stuck shooting at around 1/4000 at f22. I switched 70-200 lenses with a friend and with his lens I was shooting 1/1250 at f5.6 to get good exposure. when I put my lens back on I had to shoot 1/4000 at f22.

Also my friend used my lens on his d4 and it worked fine.

Does that make sense? Any thoughts ?

Perhaps your lens isn't stopping down properly at certain apertures. Your shutter speed is different than his by almost 2-stops while your aperture is different than his by 4-stops.

Based on the exposure you listed for yourself (1/4000" and f/22), a comparable exposure with your lens at f/5.6 should have been achievable at 1/250". I definitely wonder if the blades are sticking a little.

Question for you...do you shoot in manual mode, aperture priority, or shutter priority? Have you checked the -/+ button to see if it is set at something other than 0/0?

And what happens when you shoot at f/5.6? Overexposed or underexposed?

Unless something on the body is changing between lenses, than the issue might be the lens.
