Has anyone noticed any play between the front part of the lens and the main barrel ? Mine seems to have a lot of play that can be seen

Hi Muzza,

can you record it, with a smart phone (for instance), so we can see what and how much you really mean.
I can't notice any play in my Sigma C lens.
How is your Sigma doing with that dust speck, you wrote about 1,5 weeks back?

I made quite a few test pics (150 à 200), no dust (as far I can see...).
And no lens wobble.

Really hard to tell from this video how much it wobbles. My lens wobbles ever so slightly at this point. It is hardly discernible. It looks like normal movement of two mechanical parts that are not stiffly connected. I certainly don't see a problem, but yours might be worse.

Try mounting the lens on a tripod, so the rear part is fixed and then make a video of the front part wobble.

Mounted to a tripod makes it feel worse il try and get a vid later apparently other ones in the shop do the same
I'm not very impressed considering it's not cheap and it's meant to be a precision optical instrument
if I had known is have got the sport version the shop will take it back but will charge a minimum 10% restocking

If by wobbly I have to understand that the front part moves up-down or left-right compared to the back end, that's not good since then the glass wobbles too.

Yeah the front elements move in relation to the rest of the elements

It might be within range and do no harm but it implies that the center of the front element not always aligns perfectly with the center of the rest.

My thoughts exactly

Since it is new, I'd either look for one that doesn't do it or, if you desire that, get the sports. Like I said, it might do little harm but I would not want my lenses to do that. If they are decentered it affects IQ.

Having watched your videos, it's impossible to see the degree of movement between lens and camera body because we never see the camera body in your videos. Still, I'm not saying there isn't a problem and neither is Sigma. Their response boils down to, "send it in and we'll look at it", which doesn't surprise me. I mean, they're not going to say anything conclusive until they've had a fair chance to examine the lens.

I'd send it in and see what they say.
