Ok. I went to the camera store today and walked out with the this lens. :) I've only taken a few test photos so fa and I won't get a chance to really get out and use it for some time but it should be a very nice addition to go along the the 18-105. VC and focus seem very good. The salesperson had used one and really liked it. Plus the $100 mail-in rebate is nice. Got a Promaster filter at the same time. Unfortunately I've discovered that I may need to get a bigger camera bag in the future at the rate I'm going.

It's a great lens and Promaster filters are very good also. Rumor is Promaster filters are made by Hoya (Lol, which is made by Tokina! :)).

Nice one, let us know how you get on with it, I'm planning on making this my next lens.

Tamron has a $100 mail-in rebate through June 30th if that has any impact on when you plan to purchase it. The rebate form can be downloaded from the Tamron website.

Thanks but I'm not sure if they are also offering a rebate in the UK at the moment? I'm having a look now to see if I can find out but if anyone knows if the rebate applies this side of the pond feel free to let me know.
