My Nikon Nikkor AF 28-105mm "D" f/3.5 - 4.5 macro zoom arrived to day and I am thrilled beyond thrilled with this lens!!

I had read several reviews of this lens, and even our ol' buddy Ken Rockwell's review, and expected a nice lens with a great result but this just completely busted my expectations. Mr. Rockwell seemed to be miffed that it takes about three seconds to put this lens into macro mode. You have to move the lens barrel to the 50mm mark and then you can slide the switch to "macro". To take it out of macro you have to move the barrel to the 50mm mark and it has to be focused beyond the 2 foot mark to slide the switch back to normal mode. What is so hard about that??

Anyway, this lens is sharp and it focuses very close.

First, I am happy that I received a perfect specimen with no scratches or dings anywhere. glass is perfect and the entire lens is just spotless. I got it about $40.00 cheaper than I had seen others auction for on eBay so that is another plus. Paid for it Wednesday and it was on my doorstep today, Friday.

So on to the images. . . .

I just had to go try it out as soon as I got it unwrapped and inspected. The images below are just some little wildflowers in the yard and some of the small flowers and buds on some of the trees and bushes at my aunts house.

Here are some images that have had absolutely no sharpening, or any post processing at all, done to them. These are as shot and simply cropped 100% and then resized to 1000px on their longest side.

This is a closeup of the jaws of a rusty bench vise of mine.
