Hi,

Iam looking into getting the 80-400mm to shoot along side my 300mm f/4 for the birds. Does anyone have any experience with this lens and any sample images would be brill from bodies like, D7100 D300 D700 and pro series of cameras and is whats the focusing speed like? Is it fast on a good body as i have heard online!

Cheers

just get the nikon 1.4tc for your 300f4. the older 80-400 vr is not well rated for focus speed or sharpness.

in that case i would go for the 70-300vr, or if you really must have 400mm at the long end then i would pick the sigma 120-400 os over the older nikon 80-400mm vr. it has similar performance and costs less.
