I guess his name is not worth much. I can get the same lens in perfect condition for 1800. That being said, where is the proof that this was even owned by this guy Jim? You would think if the guy had proof, that he would show it and sell the lens for more.

a lens is a lens is a lens,, who cares what photographer owned it,, not like his photo Creative DNA rubs off on it. nice lens though.

Yes if I bought it I would want something signed by Jim Brandenburg to confirm the claim. Well let me put it this way, I think Jim Brandenburg is a superb nature photographer and since nature photography is my first love when it comes to photography, and since I think some of his work will stand the test of time, it would be cool to have this lens. It would be the same for me if I would have been able to get a hold of one of the cameras used by someone like Ernst Haas or even Henri Cartier Bresson. If you give it 50 years, you'd be surprised how the value of something may change. Although I wouldn't buy it for practical or investment reasons but purely sentimental.

Interesting to note that he switched to the 70-200 f4!

well,, 1.8 lbs vs 3.4 lbs,, and more then a 1000 less, maybe he got tired of lugging heavy gear,, I know,, I treasure my 200 F4 old AI lens,, one of the reasons, I am really thinking of the 7100,, small package, awesome results.

7100,,, with the 70-200 F4,, now that is the package.
