I currently use the Nikon 18-105 as my general purpose lens, certainly no complaints about that lens for what it is, but on occasion do feel the need for additional reach. I dismissed the Nikon 70-300 and others as I have no desire to cart around a second lens for casual purposes.
The Nikon 18-300 f/3-5.6G ED VR ll AF-s was my other consideration but at more than twice the price and twice the weight the Tamron became even more attractive. I did the review/forum due diligence, surprisingly high technical marks and the usual "too much plastic" from Nikon/Canon snobs. I no longer backpack so armor plating (and the weight) is of no importance to me.
Does anyone here have experience with this lens, first or second-hand, who could offer comments?
Thanks
