D3100 capabilities

I'm on the verge of buying the
[h=1]Nikon D3100 Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens Kit[/h]
I was just wondering when it comes to taking pictures of timelapses (pref of stars) what this camera and lens is capable of. I know it will mostly come down to my own skill and creativity but is there anywhere I can view photos of this nature with this camera and lens.

Take a look at my Gallery, wile not outstanding, all my pics are taken with a D3100 and the 18-55 kit lens.

All my pics are stills and not therefore timelapse. I believe that for timelapse shots you need a timer on a remote shutter release.

As for image quality both the camera and lens will be fine.

Welcome...I believe the D3100 has the bulb feature and used with a shutter release [As Sailtastic said] and tripod you'll
be ready to go...For tuition and videos have a look at you tube..

yes the 3100 does have bulb mode and yes can do time lapse. i also play with astrophotography look up my gallery if you like.otherwise tell us the lens combo you'd like to see and i will go try to shoot something for ya...i have a d3100 with 18-55 kit lens and the 55-300 lens as well + other toys lol
