Newbie from Australia

Hi All, I am a relatively new Nikon camera owner. I still am learning to operate it. Could you please give me some advice on what setting would be best for Inside portrait photography. I have a Nikon D3100. Please be very precise as my camera speak is limited....LOL

Hi and welcome Jojoe from another Aussie...OK here are a few tips.. Do not put your subject up against a wall or back drop..

Use a sheet or similar for a backdrop...Use the on board flash...Try the P mode, It has been programed by Nikon...

Hello and welcome to Nikonites! Congratulations on your new camera! Read through the thread here for your model of camera. D3100 Forum
It is sure to offer much insight at the beginning stages and beyond. Also be sure and read that manual. Learning all the controls may take awhile but referring back to the manual will help you through those times when you have forgotten the location of a much needed function or menu.

I should have said this before, don't be afraid of it and try other modes...Aperture priority at F5.6 can give good results...Here's a link that can be beneficial to you.....
