UV and NC Filters For Protective Purposes

My question has to do with UV filters being used on lenses for protective purposes. We all know how important it was to buy a good-quality filter. I just ordered a Nikon Neutral Color and a B+W Clear UV Haze Single Coating. Nikon swears by their NC filter and I've heard great things about B+W, also. Both filters have great reviews. What's your thought on each brand and what's your preferred filter of choice? Thanks in advance and I'm sure that this topic has been covered previously . . . My apologies . . .

I think in the "medium" priced filter world (under $200) B&W would be my choice and will be my next CPL. I do not use filters for protection so I cannot comment on the above. I'll bet Nikon is made by another major filter manufacturer.
